At various points in the café, the team has been doing net tows, gathering specimens to quantify small swimming animals – from 2-20cm long. “They have amazing adaptations to life in regions of the open ocean, and I’m going to walk you through some of my favorites!”

Yesterday’s #WhiteSharkVoyage blog about the deep scattering layer (the “peanut butter of the ocean”), gave an overview of this interesting and biologically diverse aspect of the open ocean. Today’s video update gets into detail, letting you examine some of its fascinating inhabitants up close.
