Tim D’Angelo is a Senior Research Associate at the Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences in East Boothbay, Maine.  After spending nearly eight years as a researcher in the lab of Dr. Beth Orcutt, studying the microbial ecology of the marine deep biosphere, Tim currently utilizes his experience in multiple labs within the Bigelow Laboratories. Tim has been involved in projects ranging from documenting unique Bacterial lineages occupying the hot aquifers circulating at Mid-Ocean Ridges, developing cutting-edge microbial activity assays, and using bioinformatic analyses to study the evolution of Bacterial phyla throughout their histories.  He will be utilizing his experiences to study the ecology of Viruses and Phage in Oxygen Minimum Zones with his colleague Dr. Julia Brown of the Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences.
