Linda Welzenbach is the science communications specialist in the Department of Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences at Rice University. A geologist and former meteorite curator from the Smithsonian Institution who has participated on two expeditions to collect meteorites from Antarctica, she is looking forward to communicating this unique search for rocks from space aboard the R/V Falkor.

This will be Linda’s second research cruise in 2019, having recently sailed to Antarctica to report on the science conducted at Thwaites Glacier from the IB/RV Nathaniel B. Palmer. Linda has a M.S. degree in geology from Bowling Green State University and is a Ph.D. student at the Open University working on curation science for Mars Sample Return.
