Dr Laura Cimoli is a Research Fellow at the Institute of Computing for Climate Science at the University of Cambridge. She is a physical oceanographer, and her research combines in-situ observations and data-driven methods to investigate how ocean circulation is changing in response to climate warming, and how it contributes to the sequestration and redistribution of tracers, such as anthropogenic heat and carbon.
Prior to Cambridge, she was a postdoctoral researcher at Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego. During her postdoc, she joined the Global Ocean Ship-based Hydrographic Investigations Program (GO-SHIP) and participated in multiple cruises to gather in-situ hydrographic data. She obtained her PhD in Physical Oceanography in 2019 from the University of Oxford.
