Dr Jon Kok is a research engineer with the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) based in Townsville, Queensland Australia. Jon received his BE (Hons) and PhD at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). Before joining AIMS, he was with QUT as a researcher focused on hyperspectral remote sensing in agricultural applications. Now Jon is continuing his passion for remote sensing through the research and development of various emerging technologies at AIMS. He developed AIMS’ core hyperspectral imaging capabilities (the aerial drone, underwater payload and portable aquarium hyperspectral imaging systems) with the vision for them to help advance applied marine science topics. His current research interests include image analysis, hyperspectral imaging, artificial intelligence and autonomous unmanned systems.
