Jessica Ferreira is a research fellow for the COAST project – Conservation of marine ecosystems around Santo Antão, Cabo Verde: implications for policy and society – at the Centre of Environmental and Marine Studies (CESAM) and Biology Department of University of Aveiro, Portugal. She is currently focused on fish diversity assessment and is interested in applied ecology to marine ecosystems, particularly megafauna communities. Jessica has previously contributed to other marine conservation projects in South Africa and Ireland.
Jessica earned her Master’s degree in Applied Marine Biology and her First degree in Biology at the University of Aveiro. During the Schmidt Ocean Institute’s expedition to the Bellingshausen Sea, she will assist Dr. Teresa Amaro within the scope of the HOLOTROPH project, which aims to assess the role of holothurians in the trophic ecology of Antartica’s deep-sea ecosystems.
