Gina Dambrowski did her bachelor’s degree in “Biology” at the Carl von Ossietzky University in Northern Germany and is now completing her master’s degree, focusing on benthic Copepoda communities from the North Sea. Her research combines morphological species identification and genetical methods to understand species diversity and ecosystem dynamics.
During her work with INES (Integrated Environmental Solutions) in Wilhelmshaven, Gina contributed a scientific expedition to the Clarion-Clipperton Zone (CCZ) in the Pacific Ocean. There, she analyzed meiofauna from the abyssal depths, utilizing both genetical and morphological approaches to study these deep-sea ecosystems, with respect to the influence of potential deep-sea mining.
She is excited to join the cruise to the Antarctic Peninsula in the Bellingshausen Sea, where she will focus on the biodiversity of meiobenthic communities.
