Francisca Oyanadel is an undergraduate student studying Marine Biology at the Faculty of Marine Sciences of the Universidad Católica del Norte (FCM-UCN) and is currently completing her thesis at the Center for Ecology and Sustainable Management of Oceanic Islands (ESMOI). She develops his research in the Biological Collections Room of the Universidad Católica del Norte (SCBUCN) as part of her thesis project entitled “Review and Ecological Aspects of the Sea Stars (Echinodermata: Asteroidea) from Seamounts and Oceanic Islands of the Nazca-Desventuradas Marine Park, Chile”. The focus of her research is on characterizing the habitat and diversity of asteroids in the Ocean Islands and Seamounts of the Nazca-Desventuradas marine park, with the aim of updating the records of asteroids associated with the park and, finally, developing a taxonomic key and an illustrated catalog of the asteroid species present in the Nazca-Desventuradas Marine Park. In addition, she actively collaborates with the organization “Proyecto Adelaida” in monitoring shorebirds in wetlands and dunes in the Coquimbo region.
