Christian is a Senior Technical Officer at the University of Sydney’s Australian Centre for Field Robotics (ACFR). He studied Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering and Nanotechnology Science at the University of Technology Sydney. Christian then undertook a Master of Engineering by Research where he developed real time safety algorithms to protect human workers while they operated strength augmenting exosystems. After graduating he began work on a start up venture called Respia, which utilised machine learning algorithms to forecast Asthma attacks in children and provide early warning to parents. His current role at ACFR involves two distinct aspects. The first is writing control and navigation software for a next generation Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) called Nimbus. The second is to deploy various AUVs at sea and collect seafloor images so marine scientists can better protect our marine animals and coral.
