Amber Henningsen is a Master student at the Institute for Geography, University of Bremen, in northern Germany. Complementing a team of biologists at INES (Integrated Environmental Solutions), which is based at the Senckenberg am Meer, Wilhelmshaven, she currently works with benthic macrofauna and megafauna from the Clarion-Clipperton-Zone. Several cruises to the Pacific let her gain expertise in sampling deep sea fauna, and her work in Wilhelmshaven led to a solid knowledge in studying benthic faunal communities through genetic analyses. Furthermore, she worked with non-invasive seafloor imaging and annotation of megafaunal organisms. Soon she will finish her Master program and aims to continue in the field of biogeographic deep-sea science with the start of a Ph.D. program. She is excited to join two cruises in 2024/25, to the Chile Margin and the Bellingshausen Sea/the Antarctic Peninsula and get the chance to gain incredible insights into remote and diverse deep-sea ecosystems.
