Alisa Wüst is a PhD student in the Marine Science Department at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden, supervised by Dr. Laura Bristow. Her research focuses on investigating the dynamics of the potent greenhouse gas nitrous oxide in the marine environment. She will utilize 15N-tracer experiments to measure consumption and production rates of nitrous oxide in the oxygen depleted waters of the ETSP, to develop a greater understanding of the pathways and environmental controls of nitrous oxide dynamics in these waters.

Alisa received her B.Sc. in Chemistry from Freie University, and her M.Sc. in Marine Environmental Sciences from the Carl von Ossietzky University, both in Germany. She just has started her PhD and is eager to investigate the biogeochemical cycling of nitrous oxide in the oxygen depleted zone. She is excited to join her second research cruise and contribute to the research of the science team and work together with scientists sharing her passion.
