Corinne Bassin Appointed to the Ocean Decade Data Strategy Implementation Group

SOI’s Data Architect, Corinne Bassin, has been appointed to a two-year term to the Ocean Decade Data Strategy Implementation Group (DSIG). This working group, part of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, will work to develop a detailed action plan required to implement the five identified strategic objectives detailed in the Ocean Decade Data and Information Strategy. The working group is currently soliciting input into the strategy via this form.

Beyond serving on this notable committee, Corinne works diligently to ensure data collected from R/V Falkor (too) is accurate, quality-controlled, and accessible. She has a special interest in developing and designing data visualizations that combine scientific integrity with beautiful user experiences. She enjoys exploring ways to create engaging and informative data stories, like the Dive Vault, an interactive map for exploring all of ROV SuBastian’s dives.

Outside of work, Corinne is an avid outdoor enthusiast and can be found hiking or backpacking in the Montana wilderness.
