R/V Falkor (too) has a 300 m SAAB SeaEye Falcon ROV for use in shallow water up to 300 m depth. The ROV has been especially helpful for remote coral reef survey work and has been used extensively on past cruises. The ROV has high definition cameras and the capability to stream dives live. While the addition of small sensors and use of a simple manipulator are possible, this vehicle’s best role is as a remote video platform. See Timor Sea Reef Connections as an example.
