Xavier is a PhD student working on the geology of submarine canyons at GRC Geociències Marines (University of Barcelona). His study area is the Catalan margin, where he uses geophysical approaches such as swath bathymetry, backscatter and sub-bottom profiler data to decipher submarine canyon evolution. Xavier is visiting MBARI as part of his educational experience and on this expedition he will assist in multibeam echosounder data processing and interpretation.
