William Pardis is an electrical engineer in the Applied Ocean Physics and Engineering Department at Woods Hole Oceanographic institution. Growing up and studying electrical engineering in Montana a boat was mostly just a concept to him. Through an interest in environmental sensing, he found himself commercializing an oceanographic pH instrument with a oceanographic company in Missoula, Montana Sunburst Sensors. Through this lens and a summer fellowship he found himself working as a professional engineer at Woods Hole Oceanographic. He now spends a lot of time on boats both personally under sail and professionally helping to develop and operate new oceanographic tools for scientists trying to better understand the ocean.
