Tom Bridge is a Senior Research Fellow at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies at James Cook University and the Senior Curator of Corals at the Queensland Museum Network, based at the Museum of Tropical Queensland campus in Townsville.  His research is broadly focussed on the taxonomy, systematics, ecology, biogeography and evolution of corals, and has conducted fieldwork on reefs across the Indo-Pacific. He has extensive experience in the application of new technology, such as Autonomous Underwater Vehicles, to survey little-known coral reefs living in deep water. His current research is focussed on understanding the taxonomic and functional diversity of coral reefs, particularly the speciose genus Acropora.
