Taylor Simpkins is from California, where she completed her Bachelor’s degree in Marine Science at the University of San Diego. Taylor has worked for the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB), San Diego State University (SDSU), and Hubbs Research Institute as a scientific diver on kelp, seagrass, and fish stock restoration projects in temperate systems. After moving to Australia, she began monitoring coral reef health on the Great Barrier Reef with the NGO, Great Barrier Reef Legacy in 2016. Taylor is currently undertaking her Master’s research at the University of Western Australia to improve the accuracy of tropical paleoclimate sea surface temperature reconstructions using coral paleothermometry.
