Pedro Mustieles is a predoctoral researcher at the Astrobiology Center of Madrid (CAB) with two master’s degrees, in education and in microbiology. His research is based on peptide biomarker detection for space exploration, including his interest in the connections between the ocean and the detection of life in space. Previously he has worked in laboratory and research in Spain at the Autonomous University of Madrid and he has established collaborations with the University of Maryland (USA). His professional work has allowed him to have an advanced knowledge of laboratory, as well as preparing field campaigns for Antarctica. His work at the CAB has allowed him to acquire expertise in immunosensors and biochemical procedures like those designed to be used in the expedition. Pedro obtained his bachelor’s degree in biology with biotechnology specialization, and then his master’s degree in microbiology at the University Complutense of Madrid (Spain). He is currently enrolled in space research and astrobiology program at the University of Alcalá de Henares (Spain).
