Paola is a geologist. She currently works as a Database Geologist at the Geological Information System Office of the Chilean Geological Survey SERNAGEOMIN. Additionally, she is part of the Geological and Geophysical Marine Program (the same institution).

Her expertise primarily relies in the construction and management of geospatial databases with structured data; as well as analysing geological-geotechnical information, and creating 3D geological models (ArcGIS, LeapfrogGeo). Paola works modelling spatial geodatabases, performing quality assurance and quality control (QaQc), and participates in the development of several geospatial tools and solutions for public knowledge (ESRI viewer). She has great experience in core mapping (on-site), geotechnical field campaigns, and producing geological, geomorphological, and hazard maps for coastal engineering projects, among others.

Paola is a geologist from Universidad de Chile and received a MSci degree in Geography and Geomatics from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Her thesis focused on the geomorphological trends of the Maipo estuary and the impact of coastal erosion and variations in the river system. The Ice and Fire will be her first cruise, and she is excited to contribute to the processing of bathymetric data in the geophysics team.
