Melvin Bach is a Masters student in the field of Marine Biology from the University of Rostock, Germany. He also completed his Bachelor’s degree there in 2014. For his Masters thesis, Melvin is working with Maren Voss and Sarah Weber at the Leibniz Institute of Baltic Sea Research, Warnemuende (IOW), Rostock, Germany. Melvin has a growing interest in understanding the fundamental methods and changes in planktonic food webs along with increasing human impact. His focus is on nutrient cycles and stable isotope ecology. Within Maren Voss’ working group, Melvin gained insight into his scientific work and appreciates the opportunity to take part in the R/V Falkor cruise to the South China Sea.
