
Maximilian Schrade is a doctoral researcher at the University of Oulu, Finland working on the use of eDNA in the assessments of biodiversity of aquatic environments. As part of this work the inclusion of citizen scientists is established and evaluated. Previous work had him investigating the bioturbation of Arctic deep-sea macrobenthos using both camera as well as taxonomy based approaches in the investigation of functional communities.
Max received his Bachelors (B.Sc., B.Sc.) in biology as well as molecular biology from the University of Mainz in Germany and his Masters in ecology (M.Sc.) from the University of Innsbruck in Austria. Previous endeavours have led him to spend extensive amounts of time in a variety of field operations ranging from archaeological excavations to Arctic research cruises.
