Mary is a benthic ecologist at the Australian Institute of Marine Science. Much of Mary’s research has focussed on coral habitats of the Great Barrier Reef, however more recently this has shifted to benthic communities off the north-west coast of Australia in near-shore habitats and deep-water shoals. Mary is interested in the processes driving community structure, stability and distribution. She has completed an MSc at the University of Tasmania investigating and modeling the role of disturbance in shaping shallow-water coral communities.
