Marlen Tham is a Marine Biology M.Sc. student at the University of Bremen in Germany. She is currently finishing her thesis on the biodiversity of dinoflagellates at Senckenberg am Meer German Center for Marine Biodiversity Research (DZMB) in Wilhelmshaven, Germany. Her research focuses on evaluating the taxonomy through morphology and morphometry. This work combines microscopic imaging to identify morphological differences, morphometric analysis and biogeographic considerations of species diversity.
Marlen received her B.Sc. in Biology from Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg in Germany. The Chile Margin expedition will be her first research cruise. She is excited to contribute to the research on meio-, macro- and megafauna communities and gain new expertise in the field of deep-sea biodiversity.
