Maria Seton is Senior Lecturer in the School of Geosciences at the University of Sydney and part of the EarthByte Group. She is a marine geoscientist with expertise in plate tectonics, geodynamics and marine geophysics. While much of her research is global in scale and scope, she has a particular interest in the tectonic and geodynamic evolution of the SW Pacific and Zealandia and has been involved in several research voyages in the region. Maria received her PhD from the University of Sydney in 2005, has been awarded an Australian Postdoctoral and Future Fellowship from the Australian Research Council and received the Dorothy Hill Award from the Australian Academy of Sciences in 2014. She is a member of the Research Advisory Committee for Australia’s Marine National Facility and the Science Committee of the Australian and New Zealand IODP Consortium (ANZIC).
