Maila Guilhon is a research assistant at the Research Institute for Sustainability – Helmholtz Centre Potsdam and a fellow with the Nippon Foundation – University of Edinburgh Ocean Voices Programme. She holds a Ph.D in Biological Oceanography from University of São Paulo, Brazil, a M.Sc with emphasis in Integrated Environmental Analysis and a B.Sc in Biology, both by the University Federal de São Paulo, Brazil. Her main research interests are ocean governance, the science-to-policy interface – with focus on the deep-sea mining regime of the International Seabed Authority, ecosystem-based management, gender and decision-making, interdisciplinary approaches and science communication.
