Luana Yazmin Acosta is currently a PhD student in the department of Geological Sciences, supported by a scholarship from the National Scientific and Technical a Research Council (CONICET). She is working in the Institute of Basic, Applied and Environmental Geosciences of Buenos Aires (IGeBA, CONICET-UBA). Her doctoral research focuses on understanding the seafloor morphology and the sedimentary processes in the northern sector of the Bonaerense Continental Margin, through the integration of high resolution multibeam bathymetric and seismic data, as well as the analysis of sedimentary core. Specifically, her work aims to understand how oceanographic dynamics interact with submarine landforms, such as submarine canyons systems and gravitational deposits.

Luana holds a Licentiate degree in Geological Sciences from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). She has participated in two research cruises aboard the ARA Austral along the Argentine Continental Margin, contributing to bathymetry data acquisition. She is enthusiastic about contributing to this multidisciplinary effort exploring life in extreme deep-sea ecosystems.
