Jenny Walker is a first year PhD student specialising in machine learning. She completed her BSc in Computer Science at the University of Southampton with First Honours in 2017. Her PhD focuses on using her knowledge of machine learning in the field of marine robotics, to lessen the bottleneck between data collection and scientific outputs. Her specific area of interest at the moment is in deepsea imagery, and developing segmentation techniques for this field, and other fields with a similarly low amount of available labelled training data.
She is also involved in scientific outreach, having given public talks about machine learning for The Science Room and Portsmouth Skeptics in the Pub. She also holds the position of President of the Southampton Robotics Outreach Society.
