Isabela is from Jalisco, Mexico. Since she was a child, she has had a special interest in marine sciences. She moved from Jalisco to study oceanography at the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC) where she was part of a research project working on 2D reflection seismic data from Cerralvo basin, Gulf of California.

Isabela is currently finishing her master’s degree in Earth Sciences at CICESE. Her research project is focused on hydrothermal systems in the Pescadero basin using sub-bottom profiles and high-resolution bathymetry. She loves studying the ocean, especially marine geology and marine geophysical methods. She is very excited to be able to experience working in the ocean and see what real fieldwork is like during the Interdisciplinary Investigation of the Pescadero Basin expedition.
