I’m a postdoctoral researcher at the MARUM Center for Marine Environmental Sciences at the University of Bremen, Germany. My research is focused on the biogeochemistry of seafloor hydrothermal systems, specifically the organic and inorganic chemistry of vent fluids and deposits. In 2012 I took part in the R/V Atlantis (AT18-16) expedition, where the Von Damm and Piccard fields were intensively sampled using ROV Jason. On this expedition I’ll be working with Jill McDermott and Sean Sylva to use CTD casts to detect and measure hydrothermal methane anomalies in the water column above the Mid-Cayman Rise, as we track down the unexplored Walsh vent field for sampling.
