Dr Elin Angharad Thomas is a deep-sea biologist and science communicator, currently working as Communications Manager for the Deep-Ocean Stewardship Initiative (DOSI). Elin also holds an Adjunct Research Fellow position with the Minderoo-UWA Deep-Sea Research Centre at the University of Western Australia. Her research to date has focussed on the ecology, biogeography and conservation of deep seafloor ecosystems and species, with the ultimate goal of improving our fundamental knowledge about the systematics, distribution and relationships of understudied deep-sea species, while exploring how deep-sea conservation may be achieved with the limited data already available. Elin holds a PhD from Queen’s University Belfast, where she studied the conservation of deep-sea benthic invertebrates, and an MSci in Marine Biology from the University of Southampton.
