Bernard Dennielou received a PhD in Marine Geology from Brest University (France) in 1997 and joined the Marine Geosciences Department at IFREMER in 1998. His research focuses on marine sedimentology. He is interested in the morphology and composition of sediments deposited on the continental margins, particularly in understanding how the transportation and deposition of sediment was controlled by past environmental changes (external forcings) and sedimentary processes (internal forcings). He has a specific interest in turbidite canyons and deep-sea fans.

Onboard, he will be in charge of selecting targets suitable for the multicorer. He will also collect sediment cores in order to understand the sedimentary processes at the coring sites and to determine if these can control both biodiversity of the area, as well as the distribution of microplastics.
