Dr. Daniel Lauretta is a researcher at CONICET since 2016, working at the Argentine Museum of Natural Sciences (Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina). His research interests have always focused on the diversity, taxonomy, distribution, and reproductive biology of benthic cnidarians. He began with shallow-water sea anemones and later expanded his work to deep-sea fauna, including cold-water corals. He is involved in international initiatives such as the International Association for Biological Oceanography (IABO) and the G20 initiative Coral Research & Development Accelerator Platform (CORDAP). Daniel received his Lic. and Ph.D. from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2007 and 2012 respectively. This will be his fifth deep-sea expedition, and his second aboard the Falkor (Too).
