Dr. Corinna Breusing is a marine research associate at the University of Rhode Island. She received her Ph.D. degree in Biological Oceanography from the University of Kiel in collaboration with the Helmholtz Center for Ocean Research Kiel, Germany, in 2016. Corinna’s work primarily focuses on the evolutionary biology of marine microbial symbioses, including the role of symbionts in driving ecological partitioning, adaptation and speciation of host organisms, especially at deep-sea hydrothermal vents. Her research relies heavily on molecular biological, bioinformatic and modelling techniques. In addition to her research, Corinna is strongly committed to increasing diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice in the marine sciences.
