Chris Preston is a research specialist at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute.  Chris’s background is in marine microbiology and she works with engineers help develop in situ instrumentation geared towards supporting ‘omic studies and real time analyses of marine microbes.  While at sea, Chris will be helping the University of Hawaii, run MBARI’s latest sampling robot, the 3rd Generation Environmental Sample Processor (3G ESP) on the long range autonomous underwater vehicle (LRAUV) to study microbial dynamics of the deep chlorophyll max of mesoscale eddies.
