In mid 2014, Carlin was appointed a research officer for Professor Ryan Lowe, and Prof Malcolm McCulloch. Carlin provides support for spatial and data based projects, while also leading co-leading field logistics within the research group. Carlin has a strong background in the spatial and field logistics areas as having spent the previous four years working in the private sector for a marine consultant specialising in the execution and analysis of coral and general benthic surveys.

Carlin enjoys the challenge of data collection in the marine environment and how this is then transformed and manipulated in GIS systems to be represented across space in a final output. Carlin enjoys diving, fishing, water-skiing….. or rather anything involving a boat and water.
