Dr. Brenda Doti is an Associate Researcher at the Instituto de Biodiversidad y Biología Experimental y Aplicada (UBA-CONICET) and Head of the Practical Work of “Introduction to Zoology” at the University of Buenos Aires (DBBE, UBA). Her research focuses on the systematics and biogeography of Isopoda (Crustacea, Peracarida). Isopods are small crustaceans present in almost every benthic sample collected; Brenda’s investigations include the identification and description of new species, possible associations between isopods and other marine invertebrates, and the analysis of geographic and bathymetric distribution patterns of isopods from the southwest Atlantic and their affinity with those from other regions. Brenda obtained her Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Buenos Aires, and was awarded several scholarships for short visits to the Zoological Museum in Hamburg and to the Australian Museum in Sidney. Brenda has participated in several oceanographic expeditions to the Argentine Sea. At the University of Buenos Aires, Brenda has actively participated in several workshops and symposia dedicated to the promotion of marine sciences among students.
