Biajani Gonzalez is a recent graduate of a BS in electrical engineering from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus, and a prospective graduate candidate for physical oceanography. He works as a researcher at the Bio-optical Oceanography laboratory at Isla Magueyes, Lajas Puerto Rico. Having an affinity for applied science, he is interested in emerging remote sensing technologies that can aid conservation efforts, particularly in coral reef and water quality studies. For this reason, he is fascinated by how the new sensors Dr. Hansel and her team developed can contribute to understanding deep-sea corals’ health. Ultimately, he wishes to harness an interdisciplinary effort to further the field of ocean sciences, aiding Puerto Rico’s oceanographic development and the vast frontier of ocean exploration.
