After his studies in computational visualistics in Germany, Benjamin Knorlein acquired his Ph.D. in the Computer Vision Lab of the Federal Institute of Technology Zurich, Switzerland (ETH Zurich). He currently works for the Center for Computation and Visualization at Brown University where he uses his expertise in Computer Vision and Graphics to help researchers with the analysis and visualization of scientific data ranging from biology to planetary  geology. During the cruise he will use his software to analyze holographic microscopy images to extract phytoplankton data using the high-performance computers on board the R/V Falkor.
