Beckett Colson is a 3rd year PhD student in the MIT/Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Joint Program. He is advised by Dr. Anna Michel. His research focuses on in situ instrument development for total dissolved inorganic carbon dioxide (DIC), dissolved gasses, and microplastics. On this cruise he will be testing low cost dissolved gas sensor prototypes and assisting in operations of the Michel lab instruments. Beckett received a Bachelor’s degree from MIT in Mechanical and Ocean Engineering. His experience includes designing and building an Aluminum-Gallium based underwater power pack, a bio-inspired fish robot, and a buoyancy engine driven underwater glider.
