Beatriz Naranjo is a Costa Rican marine biologist dedicated to advancing deep-sea science and conservation in the Eastern Tropical Pacific. She works as an independent consultant and collaborates on deep-sea research at Universidad de Costa Rica, where she is part of the Costa Rica Desconocida initiative, an interdisciplinary effort focused on strengthening scientific research and building public connection with deep-sea ecosystems to support their knowledge and conservation. Her work focuses on documenting and mapping deep-sea biodiversity by analyzing and annotating imagery, helping to generate standardized biodiversity data and improve understanding of vulnerable marine ecosystems.
