Anna M Addamo is a Marine Biologist and Ecologist Ph.D. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at Nord University (Norway) and project manager of the Horizon Europe MPA Europe. She is also a research member of the Climate Change Research Center (CCRC) at the University of Insubria (Italy) and of IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas. Previously, she served as a Postdoctoral researcher and research officer at the European Commission Joint Research centre (Italy) and the Spanish National Research Council National Museum of Natural Sciences (Spain).

Anna earned her B.Sc. in Biological Sciences and M.Sc. in Ecology from the University of Insubria (Italy), followed by an M.Sc. in Marine Biodiversity from Marche Polytechnic University (Italy), and an M.Sc. in qOmis from University of Milano-Bicocca (Italy). She completed her Ph.D. at the Autonomous University of Madrid (Spain).

Anna has extensive experience in marine ecology and evolutionary biology, using both traditional and advanced molecular techniques. Her research focuses on marine biodiversity, molecular ecology, population genetics/genomics, seascape ecology, and the ecological impacts of climate change. Her main interests lie in the systematics, biogeography, ecology, and biology of marine invertebrates, particularly shallow and deep-sea corals, across the Mediterranean Sea, Red Sea, NE Atlantic Ocean, and Pacific Ocean.

During expeditions FKt241011 and FKt250110, where Anna serves as Co-PI, she intends to collect coral and sponges samples, integrate ROV imagery annotations with eDNA data from water samples, and gather microplastic samples from the deep water column. Her goal is to assess biodiversity patterns and evaluate the conservation status along the Chilean Margin and the Antarctic Peninsula in the Bellingshausen Sea.
