Allison is currently a PhD student at the University of Otago, Dunedin. She is broadly interested in the ecology and phylogeny of echinoderms. Allison received her undergraduate degree (B.Sc.) from the University of California San Diego and minored in Marine biology. She then completed her master’s (M.Sc.) degree at the University of Guam, where she studied the higher-level phylogenetics of holothuroids. Afterwards, she practiced coral-reef management as a biological technician with the US National Park Service.

Allison has participated as a science team member on multiple cruises (e.g., NOAA Ship Oscar Elton Sette and the R/V Falkor) in the Pacific. She will work closely with Greg Rouse’s team to collect, identify, and describe holothuroids from around methane seeps.
