R/V Falkor (too) – Hiring Job Description – 3rd Engineer

Tendering:

Interviews for the shortlisted candidates will be held in the week after the tendering end date. Due to the number of anticipated applicants, the Company will usually only communicate with those shortlisted for interview.

● Salary: TBC/daily rate – USD
● Leave: You will accrue 1 day paid leave per 1 day worked. For Definite Period Agreements, the leave accrued is included in the salary.
● Medical Insurance: Covered while on board.
● Flights: Economy flights from home airport to vessel and return home paid by Company.
● Accommodation: Assigned cabin with an en suite bathroom. This cabin may have double occupancy.
● Contract: Seafarer Employment Agreement as per Marine Labor Convention (MLC)
● Employment Company: SPS Maritime Ltd – a Cayman Islands company.
● Probation period: 3 months.
● Training: the Company provides training based on position, vessel requirements and other factors.

Job Description:
● Reports to Chief Engineer
● Keeping an engine room watch at sea and in port.
● The maintenance and monitoring of the condition of machinery and equipment as delegated by the Chief Engineer, including records of repairs and maintenance in the PMS as well as inventory, organizing and preparation of orders for spare parts.
● Assisting in the process of a bunker or discharge operation, like fuel, oils, sludge or other liquids and materials.
● Assist (or in the absence of) the Second Engineer perform the duties associated with that role if required.
● Be familiar with all assigned safety and security duties at sea and in port.

General Requirements for all crew:
● Valid STCW95 Basic Safety Training
● Valid Seafarers Medical Fitness Certificate (ENG1 or equivalent recognised by Cayman Islands)
● Seafarer’s Discharge Book
● Passport
● Proficiency in Designated Security Duties
● Good communication skills, including English language speaking and comprehension
● Negative drug test result on first day of employment
● Clean Criminal Record
● Clean background check verified prior to employment

Specific Requirements for this position:
● Engineering Officer Certificate of Competency STCW95 III/1 or higher
● Advanced Fire Fighting
● Proficiency in survival crafts and rescue boats
● Interest and additional qualifications in electric/electronic is an advantage
● MAN engine experience is an advantage
● Basic use of AutoCad, SolidWorks or other engineering programs is an advantage
● Good proven hands-on knowledge of electrics, automations, controls, pneumatics and hydraulics are an advantage
● Planned maintenance systems and purchasing programs experience
