Lucia Chesta is completing her Oceanography degree at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). From a young age, she felt a deep curiosity for the sea and its mysteries, which led her to discover her vocation for studying and understanding the physical processes that occur in the oceans and their connection with marine life. Her main interest lies in ocean dynamics and in how science can help us understand and protect marine ecosystems. She is currently developing her undergraduate thesis as part of this expedition, a project that allows her to grow as a scientist and strengthen her commitment to ocean conservation. She also participated in an Antarctic campaign, where she had the opportunity to engage directly in research tasks in an extreme environment—an experience that deepened her passion for exploration and teamwork. In addition, she is passionate about science communication, seeking to bring oceanographic knowledge closer to society and raise awareness about the importance of protecting our marine resources.
