Juliana Giménez, Ph.D. (University of Buenos Aires), is an Independent Researcher at CONICET and Full Professor at the University of Buenos Aires. She teaches at both the Ciclo Básico Común and the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences, contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate education. As head of the Laboratory of Marine Invertebrate Biology at IBBEA (CONICET–UBA), she focuses on the reproductive biology and ecophysiology of marine invertebrates. She served as Director of the Department of Biodiversity and Experimental Biology (2022–2025) and currently presides over the Argentine Malacological Association.
Her international training includes a DAAD fellowship at the Alfred Wegener Institute (Germany) and postdoctoral research at the Institute for Marine Biosciences, NRC (Canada), where she studied benthic and shellfish reproductive ecology. These experiences strengthened her international collaborations.
Dr. Giménez has led competitive projects, published widely, supervised numerous students, and was a visiting professor at Ghent University (Belgium). Her work bridges basic and applied research, promoting sustainability and advancing marine biology in Argentina and abroad.
