José Isola is a marine geologist and associate researcher at the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. His research focuses on understanding how seafloor morphology and past oceanographic conditions influence sediment deposition and distribution along continental margins. He has extensive experience integrating multibeam and high-resolution seismic data with sediment cores.

José holds both a Licentiate and a Ph.D. in Geology from the University of Buenos Aires and completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at Rutgers University, United States. He has authored over 15 scientific publications and participated in more than 10 oceanographic cruises along the Argentine margin. In several of these campaigns, he played a leading role in acquiring multibeam bathymetry, sub-bottom profiler seismic data, and sediment cores. As part of the Falkor (too) expedition, “A Tale of Two Submarine Canyons”, he will contribute to the acquisition and interpretation of multibeam bathymetric and sub-bottom profiler data.
