Cristian Lagger is a marine ecologist, scientific diver, and National Geographic Explorer. He earned his PhD in biological sciences from the National University of Córdoba, Argentina. His research interests include marine biodiversity, ocean conservation, and science communication. He focuses on how polar ecosystems respond to climate change, particularly concerning colonization processes and ecological succession in newly ice-free areas of Antarctica due to glacial retreat and ice loss. Lagger has led numerous expeditions studying marine benthic communities, where his fieldwork involves capturing underwater photographs and videos to analyze patterns and ecological processes and creating innovative media content accompanied by powerful storytelling. He is currently a researcher at the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET). He also serves as Head of Science at “Por El Mar” Foundation, an organization dedicated to advancing initiatives for protecting and restoring our oceans.
