Dr. Katlin Bowman Adamczyk is a Physical Scientist with the U.S. Geological Survey Global Marine Mineral Resources project in Santa Cruz, CA. Her work focuses on marine biogeochemistry and deep-sea exploration. She completed a B.S. and Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences from Wright State University and conducted postdoctoral research in the Ocean Sciences Department at the University of California Santa Cruz where she traveled to the North Pole in search of mercury cycling genes in the Arctic Ocean. Katlin is a 2018/2020 National Geographic Explorer and completed several projects investigating marine plastic pollution prior to joining the U.S. Geological Survey. She has participated in over a dozen research expeditions spanning the globe and is particularly interested in human impacts on marine ecosystems.
