Researcher in zoology, systematics, faunistic, and taxonomy with focus on fishes and non-tetrapod organisms from Uruguay. Curator of the Ichthyology, Malacology, Invertebrate Zoology, and Entomology sections of the National Museum of Natural History of Uruguay. Professor at the Centro Universitario Regional del Este (Rocha Campus), UdelaR. Member of the Malacological Society of Uruguay, the Killifish Foundation, and the Autóctonos de Uruguay. Author of two books, author or co-author of more than 50 technical and popular publications, and more than 50 conference presentations.
