I am Vivian Helena Pellizari, a Brazilian marine microbiologist and Associate Professor at the Oceanographic Institute of the University of São Paulo (USP). My research focuses on marine microbiology and microbial ecology, with particular interest in the diversity, biogeography, and ecological roles of microorganisms in marine and extreme environments, including the deep sea and polar regions. I received my Master’s degree (1992) and PhD (1996) in Biological Sciences (Microbiology) from the University of São Paulo and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Microbial Ecology at Michigan State University. My work investigates microbial biodiversity, extremophiles, and the responses of microbial communities to environmental change, contributing to understanding ocean ecosystems and global biogeochemical cycles. I have participated in international oceanographic and Antarctic research programs and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams studying microbial life in diverse marine environments.
